Google Maps to Include an Offline Mode

Further improving its functionality for mobile phone users, Google Maps will be available without the need for internet

Have you ever needed Google Maps while out on the go but were unable to connect via the internet? As a solution to this problem, Google have announced that they will be making Google Maps, along with turn-by-turn navigation, and voice guidance, usable while offline.

Google uses the GPS signal of your mobile phone to ascertain your exact location, and you don’t need to download any of the maps prior to use.

HERE maps already has this functionality, so the technology isn’t anything new, but it will be extremely for users to be able to continue using Google maps while searching via a poor internet connection.

Google have announced that they will be releasing the new offline availability later this year during their Keynote at Google I/O:
