Google Sets Inaccurate & Offensive Content in its Crosshairs

Google’s latest quality raters’ guidelines have been released, and have been updated to give raters new ways of flagging sites with content that could be considered upsetting, offensive or inaccurate.

That there is upsetting, offensive or harmful content on the internet should be abundantly clear to anyone who’s ever innocently searched for the best way to celebrate a particularly bountiful lemon harvest; for how, as just one man, you should tackle opening one tricky jar; or for the best way to make waffles appropriate for a 65th wedding anniversary.

Not that it should be surprising to anyone, really.

Bings new Fact Answers is Useful, But Still Behind Google

“Hitting the stores or the all-you-can-eat buffet”? Because apparently Bing can help you get there more easily.

In anticipation of the number of additional shopping searches during the upcoming festive season, Bing have rolled a new feature call Fact Answers into their search results which displays factual information about shops and businesses in relation to your search queries.

This information is in addition to the local business results, appears at the very top of the page, and includes details such as:

Phone number Address Opening hours Directions from your current location

Don’t Miss This Live Stream From Adwords

On Wednesday the 10th of December, Jerry Dischler, the Vice President of Adword’s Project Management will be recapping the developments in Adwords over the last year in a 30 minute live stream.
